DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Arusha City Tour
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a friendly guide from Tanzania Safari View will greet your family and transfer you to Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy a relaxed afternoon exploring the town. Popular family-friendly options include visiting the Cultural Heritage Center, the Natural History Museum, or Meserani Snake Park. The rest of the evening is at your leisure. Accommodation for tonight is arranged independently.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your adventure begins with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its vast elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. Enjoy a family-friendly game drive, where children can spot giraffes, zebras, impalas, and more. The park’s diverse landscape offers the perfect setting for nature photography and wildlife education. You’ll enjoy lunch at a picnic site before continuing your game drive in the late afternoon. At the end of the day, your guide will drop you off at your chosen accommodation near the park.
Day 3: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
This morning, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, a compact gem famous for its tree-climbing lions and rich birdlife. Drive through lush groundwater forests, where blue monkeys and baboons swing through the trees, before reaching the soda lake that attracts thousands of flamingos. A highlight for families is the Treetop Walkway, offering a fun and safe canopy adventure. On the way, you may stop at the village of Mto wa Mbu for a cultural tuk-tuk tour or banana plantation visit, ideal for curious young minds. Overnight is independently arranged near Lake Manyara.
Day 4: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, set out for the legendary Serengeti. The drive takes you through the Ngorongoro highlands, offering dramatic views of the Great Rift Valley and Maasai villages. As you enter the Serengeti, the plains open up to reveal endless savannah dotted with wildlife. Enjoy a game drive en route to your selected campsite or lodge. The Serengeti never disappoints — today you might see lions lounging in the grass, wildebeest on the move, or cheetahs sprinting across the plains.
Day 5: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park
Spend the entire day exploring Serengeti’s diverse landscapes. Your guide will tailor the safari pace to your family’s preference, allowing for breaks and flexible game drive times. With a picnic lunch under an acacia tree or near a hippo pool, you’ll get to truly immerse yourself in the wild. Children can engage in wildlife checklists and storytelling sessions, making the day both fun and educational. After an unforgettable day, return to your pre-arranged accommodation for a restful night.
Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Enjoy a morning game drive as you exit the Serengeti and travel toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On the way, you can stop at Olduvai Gorge, a world-renowned archaeological site that brings Africa’s deep history to life. Another optional stop includes a Maasai boma, where your family can learn about local culture through dance, storytelling, and traditional crafts. Arrive near the crater rim and settle into your own accommodation, ideally placed for an early start the next morning.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Tour & Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places in Africa to spot the Big Five. The short drive into the crater offers incredible views, and once inside, you’ll encounter elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, and perhaps even a rare black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool before starting your drive back to Arusha in the afternoon. Your safari concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward journey.
